Altar Cave

Overview

The Altar Cave (祭壇の洞窟 [saidan no doukutsu] or 'altar cave' in Japanese) is a fairly small cave in the north-eastern reaches of the Parmeni Mountains in Final Fantasy III, directly north of the village of Ur on the Floating Continent.

Altar Cave is the first location in the game, when Luneth falls down the hole in the first portion of the second floor, right into the bottom-most third floor. This is a hole created by one of the recent earthquakes caused by Xande's scheming, and allows him access to the eponymous altar room where the Wind Crystal is located.

Locations

As can be seen on the map, the Altar Cave consists of five different map portions spread out across three floors1. The separate portions of the first and second floors can only be accessed through the third floor.
The second portion of the second floor contains a wellspring that can heal your party.
