Byblos

Byblos is an ancient port town in modern-day Lebanon, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It's the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world, and was originally built between 8800 and 7000 BC (some 9,000-10,800 years ago) as a part of the country of Phoenicia. The writing system used in Phoenicia (and thus, in Byblos) formed the basis for the modern-day western alphabet.
ビブロス [byblos] in Japanese.
