White Maiden appears to be one of the biggest rivers in Aldenard, if not the biggest. It runs from western Abalathia's Spine all the way to Strait of Merlthor, separating the Black Shroud from the lowlands of Coerthas and Mor Dhona from Yafaem Saltmoor.
The White Maiden was formed at the start of the Fifth Astral Era some 3100 years ago, when the melting snows in the aftermath of the Age of Endless Frost ran down Abalathia's Spine. The river originally contributed to making the Yafaem plateau fertile, but it has since transformed into a saltmoor due to the effects of the Sixth Umbral Calamity.
