Samurai

Samurai (侍 / サムライ [samurai] in Japanese) is a specialized warrior-type job capable of wielding katana. It only made its first appearance in FF5, so while it has plenty of tradition by now in the series, it is also very clearly a later addition. The most recognizable samurai outfit has them clad in red Japanese-style armor. As it is so tightly connected to wielding katana, this job has no direct relation to others aside from maybe Parivir, but through its damage-dealing abilities can be connected to such jobs as the Warrior and Knight, or even the Dragoon.
Several samurai have featured prominently in the series. Examples of them are Cyan Garamonde from FF6, Auron from FF10 and Ayame from FF11.

Final Fantasy V

Quite like dragoon, the samurai job in Final Fantasy V is one of the last jobs unlocked. However, unlike dragoons they have many useful abilities that no physical fighter character should be without. Even despite having average stats, their abilities make them useful.
