Summoner (XI)

Unlocking

Summoner is one of the many advanced jobs in Final Fantasy XI. It can be unlocked by completing the lv30 quest, no other requirements.

Stat Distributions

Basic Stats

The basic stats range in rank from A to G. The actual stat is calculated based on your race and job level. In addition to the basic stat formula, some bonuses are applied, such as traits that affect them, as well as any stats your support job contributes.

Combat Skills

Combat skills range in rank from A+ to F. In addition to the job's native skills, you may receive some skill through a support job (max skill increase) or equipments' traits (actual skill increase). Note that combat skills aren't gained automatically at level-up, but you need to use the skill to raise it. The numbers below are the caps for each level.

Summons

Summoning can work a little differently from other jobs. To use summoning magic, first you have to summon an Avatar or a spirit to command. After that, you can use pet commands. Blood Pact: Rage and Blood Pact: Ward will include different abilities depending on what you have summoned at the moment. Please see the Avatars' own pages for their lists of abilities.

Avatars

Note that out of all the Avatars, you will gain access to Carbuncle by default. The others require defeating that Avatar in battle (and do note, the battle does not have to happen on SMN, but can be undertaken on any job). For this reason starting out as a SMN may be wiser for players who already have other jobs leveled so they can take on the Avatars, and then start out SMN already having access to them.
