Units of FFXVANE

There are various types of units for hire in Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. Troops are divided into five subtypes, one that is purely defensive and one that is really only useful when attacking another empire.

In addition to the common troops, your empire also benefits from heroes. They are not technically units like the troops are, and come with much more importance. While your troop count is thousands, and can even be millions, you have only one hero.

Heroes

The hero is the main force of the empire. They have their own level, stats and equips, and can be tasked with attacking monsters or other players, defending your empire or gathering resources. Anything the hero participates in gets big bonuses, and they can provide efficiency for your empire's resource generating as well.

Note however that your hero is not eternal. They can be captured or banished by enemy forces under the right circumstances, and you can do the same to enemy heroes. If you have lost your hero and want to start a new one, the building Hero Statue comes into play. Any new hero you hire can partially inherit the experience points of your old hero - in proportion to the level of your Hero Statue.

Possible heroes
Noctis Lucis Caelum
Lunafreya Nox Fleuret
Gladiolus Amicitia

Troops

Note that to train troops, you must have a Training Grounds. The Training Grounds has one slot available for training new troops, although how many new troops at most can be queued up depends on the size of your training queue. The size of the training queue can be raised both by leveling up your Training Grounds, and by building and leveling up your Barracks. The maximum number of troops you can have depends on the level of your Citadel.

Citadel Capacity Citadel Capacity
1 900,00 11 1,980,000
2 1,000,000 12 2,160,000
3 1,100,000 13 2,340,000
4 1,200,000 14 2,520,000
5 1,300,000 15 2,700,000
6 1,400,000 16
7 1,500,000 17
8 1,600,000 18
9 1,700,000 19
10 1,800,000 20

There is also another factor to consider when leveling up your Training Grounds - the availability of troops to train. In addition to unlocking new troop levels at the University, your Training Grounds must be of a certain level to be able to train them. For level 2 troops, a level 10 Training Grounds is required, for level 3 troops it is level 20, for level 4 troops level 30, and so on.

Note that in addition to troops of your own, your empire can house reinforcements. These are temporary troops sent by your guild members. Unlocking this feature and raising your reinforcement capacity happens through the Embassy.

Troop types
Cavalry
Mage
Siege Engine
Warrior

Warriors

Warrior types are your basic attackers. They are strong against Cavalry and Siege Engine types, and weak to Mages and Traps. In addition, Fire-type Traps are strong against them.

Level Power Load HP ATK DEF SPD Upkeep Cost Training
1 2 4 ★★★★ 1 food 5 stone, 6 metal, 70 food, 35 gil 5 s
2 4 5 ★★ ★★ ★★ ★★★ 2 food 10 stone, 10 metal, 155 food, 80 gil 10 s
3 6 7 ★★★ ★★★ ★★★ ★★ 0.5 wheat ? ?
4 8 9 ★★★★ ★★★★ ★★★★ 1 wheat ? ?

Mages

Mages are strong against Warriors and Siege Engines, and weak to Cavalry and Traps. In addition, Lightning-type Traps are strong against them.

Level Power Load HP ATK DEF SPD Upkeep Cost Training
1 2 4 ★★★★ 1 food 5 stone, 35 energy, 70 food, 5 gil 5 s
2 4 5 ★★ ★★ ★★ ★★★ 2 food 10 stone, 80 energy, 155 food, 10 gil 10 s
3 6 7 ★★★ ★★★ ★★★ ★★ 0.5 wheat ? ?
4 8 9 ★★★★ ★★★★ ★★★★ 1 wheat ? ?

Cavalry

Cavalry are strong against Mages and Siege Engines, and weak to Warriors and Traps. In addition, Ice-type Traps are strong against them.

Level Power Load HP ATK DEF SPD Upkeep Cost Training
1 2 4 ★★★★ 1 food 5 energy, 35 metal, 70 food, 5 gil 5 s

3 6 7 ★★★ ★★★ ★★★ ★★★ 0.5 wheat ? ?
4 8 9 ★★★★ ★★★★ ★★★★ 1 wheat ? ?

Siege Engine

Siege Engines are strong against Traps, and weak to Warriors, Cavalry and Mages. This makes them impractical both for defensive service and for attacks you initiate outside of enemy empires. Their only real use comes in attacking other empires, and in gathering due to their high load.

Level Power Load HP ATK DEF SPD Upkeep Cost Training
1 6 7 ★★★ 1 food 45 stone, 5 energy, 5 metal, 85 food 5 s
2 6 11 ★★ ★★ ★★ ★★★ 2 food 95 stone, 10 energy, 10 metal, 195 food 10 s
3 9 14 ★★★ ★★★ ★★★ 0.5 wheat ? ?
4 12 18 ★★★★ ★★★★ ★★★★ 1 wheat ? ?

Traps

Traps are in a lot of ways comparable to troops. However, you construct them through your Wall, and your Wall's level is what restricts what and how many you can build. The maximum capacity starts at 3,000 at Wall level 1 and rises by 500 every level. Fire-type Traps are strong against Warriors, Lightning-types strong against Mages and Ice-type strong against Cavalry. All Traps are weak against Siege Engines.

As usual, Traps must first be researched at the University before they can be built as well.
