Stats

This page aspires to gather brief notes on the effects of stats in all FF games. For more accurate descriptions for a specific FF title, you should see that title's Basic Guide page, as not even remotely all of the stats listed below can be found in even the game with the greatest amount of different stats.

Note that some stat names (such as CP and LP) can appear under more than one category under different meanings.

Consumables

These stats are your most basic attributes. They are used up in battle or other applicable situations, and are directly related to your condition.

HP Hit Points Your health. Without it, you can't act and are Knocked Out
MP Magic(k) Points Consumed upon casting a spell or other magical ability.
TP Technical Points Your ability MP. It is consumed upon using a fighting ability.
AP Ability Points Your ability MP. Consumed upon using any ability or spell, and when sprinting.
CP Capacity Points
Crafting Points
Capacity tells how many abilities you can equip on your character. Crafting is crafting MP, it is consumed upon using a crafting ability.
GP Gathering Points Your gathering MP. It is consumed upon using a gathering ability.
DP Destiny Points Your walking MP. It is consumed upon advancing a step.
LP Limit Points
(Life) Points
Limit points have various uses based on title (filling up limit gauge probably most often). Life is your walking HP, consumed upon advancing in a quest.
BP Brigade Points Your battling MP. It is consumed upon participating in major battles.
Stamina Your quest-taking MP. It is consumed by embarking on quests.

Gainables

This type of stat is something you gain (usually in battle) and that go towards advancing in strength. This advancing can be either gaining levels/ranks or directly gaining more stats and/or new abilities.

EXP Experience Points Your gained experience. Levels up your level, rank, or equivalent. 経験値 in Japanese.
AP Ability Points Your gained experience. You can use these to buy stats and/or abilities.
JP Job Points Your gained job experience. You can use these to buy abilities and raise your job level.
LP License Points
Limit Points
Your gained experience. You can use these to buy stats and abilities. License Points are gained throughout the game, while Limit Points are gained only after reaching level limit.
CP Clan Points
Crystal Points
Capacity Points
Clan is your gained clan experience, and it levels up your clan rank. Crystal is your gained event battle experience, you can use it to buy weapons or abilities. Capacity is your gained job experience, and automatically changes into 1 Job Point when it reaches 30,000.
MeP Merit Points Your gained experience after reaching max level. You can use these to buy stats and abilities.
FCP Free Company Points Your FC's gained experience. Levels up your rank, and can be used to buy FC actions.
KP Kupo Your gained battle style points. You can use these to buy various equips and summons.
CoP Contribution Points Your gained battle effectiveness points. They are used to rank you in comparison to other players.
SP Social Points Your gained social participation points. You can use these to buy more BP.

Basic Attributes

These stats are something very inherent to every character. They usually become higher as you level up without the need to change your equipment to better ones, although that can have an effect on basic attributes as well especially on the highest levels.

STR Strength Increases damage dealt. May have additional effects depending on title.
DEX Dexterity 器用さ Usually increases evasion, parry, block and other similar stats. May also have an effect on ranged damage dealt. Other effects may apply depending on title.
VIT Vitality 体力 Usually either increases HP or increases DEF. May apply to both. Other effects may apply depending on title.
STA Stamina 体力 Usually increases HP. May increase DEF as well. Other effects may apply depending on title.
INT Intelligence 知性 Increases magical damage dealt. May have additional effects depending on title.
MND Mind 精神 Usually either decreases magical damage received, increases HP healed, or both. May have additional effects depending on title.
SPR Spirit 精神 Usually decreases magic damage received. May have additional effects depending on title.
MAG Magic(k) 魔力 Increases magical damage dealt. May also decrease magical damage received. May have additional effects depending on title.
PIE Piety Increases MP. May have other effects depending on title.
LCK Luck 幸運 May have an effect on your critical, evasion, parry, etc battle properties. Other effects may apply depending on title.
CHR Charisma May have various effects depending on title.
SPD Speed 素早さ May increase the speed at which your turn comes around in battle, or affect your evasion rate. May have additional effects depending on title.
AGI Agility 素早さ May increase the speed at which your turn comes around in battle, or affect your evasion rate. May have additional effects depending on title.

Properties

Property-type stats build up on your inherent attribute-type stats, and may also rely heavily on the equipment you use. To make this easier to read, they have been divided into battle and non-battle properties.

Battle Properties

In addition to the battle properties listed below, there might also be various skills in a title related to your skill of handling specific types of weapons or abilities, such as Sword, Marksmanship, Elemental and Enhancing skills.

Other Battle Properties

Crit Critical クリティカル May stand for either your critical hit rate or accuracy, sometimes both. Critical Evasion and/or Defense may also exist.
MCrit Magic(k) Critical May stand for either your magical critical hit rate or accuracy, sometimes both. Magic Critical Evasion and/or Defense may also exist.
Parry 受け流し Your weapon parry rate.
Guard ガード Your weapon guard rate.
Block Your shield block rate.
BRV Bravery ブレイブ Your attacking strength, modified by your ATK and enemy's DEF.
FTH Faith フェイス Your magical strength, modified by your MATK and enemy's MDEF.
DET Determination 意思力 Increases damage dealt and HP recovered by abilities and spells you use.
MOR Morale Decreases damage taken from other players.
SkSPD Skill Speed スキルスピード Decreases cast time and cooldown of abilities.
SpSPD Spell Speed スペルスピード Decreases cast time and cooldown of spells.
RNG Range 距離 Tells how far from the character an attack, ability, spell, etc. can reach. May be divided into MED (Medium range), SHT (Short range) and LNG (Long range).
WGT Weight 重さ The weight of an item. Carrying too much can slow you down.

Non-Battle Properties

In addition to the battle properties listed below, there might also be various skills in a title related to your skill of handling specific types of activities, such as Mining, Fishing, Alchemy, Goldsmithing and Chocobo Riding.

Craft Craftsmanship 作業精度 Increases the progress you make with one action while crafting. May instead increase the success rate of your physical-based crafting abilities.
MCraft Magic Craftsmanship Increases the success rate of your magic-based crafting abilities.
Control 加工精度 Increases the quality you gain with one action while crafting. May instead decrease your chances of losing control of the craft in process.
Gather Gathering 獲得力 Increases your likelihood of finding items while gathering. May instead increase the number of actions you can take while gathering.
Perception 識質力 Increases your likelihood of finding HQ items while gathering.
Output Increases the rate of finding items while gathering (more at a time, less waiting).

Affinities

Affinities either increase the damage dealt, decrease the damage received, or both. The effect of an affinity is only applicable to the type of the affinity itself. Affinity resistance and damage dealt may be separate stats, depending on title.
Aside from the below, a character or an item may have status-resisting affinities (such as sleep resist, poison resist, etc.)
