Squall Leonhart

This page remains incomplete.

Squall Leonhart (スコール・レオンハート [squall leonhart] in Japanese) is a teenage boy and gunblade fighter in Final Fantasy VIII. At the start of the game he's 17 years old. He celebrates his birthday on 23.8, and his bloodtype is AB. He's 177 cm tall, and has icy blue eyes and brown messy hair. He is closed to others but would like nothing better than to succeed in what he does, being a follower.
As far as he knows at the start of the game he is an orphan, although his father is Laguna Loire and his mother Raine Loire. He also has an older half-sister Ellone. During the game's story he falls in love with Rinoa Heartilly.

While the original game didn't feature voice acting, Squall appeared in Dissidia where his Japanese seiyuu was Hideo Ishikawa, and was voiced by Doug Erholtz in the English version.

Biography

Early Years

squallleonhart_ff8.jpg

Soon after Squall was born, his mother Raine passed away. It isn't exactly known when it happened, but he does have memories of his big sister from the time his mother was still alive. Afterwards he was taken into an orphanage and grew up with several other children - Seifer Almasy, Zell Dincht, Quistis Trepe, Selphie Tilmitt and Irvine Kinneas. They were taken care of the kindly woman the children knew as Matron - in truth, Edea Kramer.

Along the years some of the children were adopted, and some others went to various Gardens, special kinds of military schools. In these schools they were taught the use of GFs, and as a side effect Squall along with the other children forgot his past.

Squall, always a lonely child after arriving at the orphanage, always pining after his sister, grew cold and closed to others, attempting to hide his feelings. He developed a rivalry with Seifer Almasy and became a gunblade specialist.

Trivia

Squall's last name is likely a reference to Leon from Final Fantasy II, who was called Leonhart in the Japanese version.
