Treespeak (ひそひそ木立 [hisohiso kodachi] or 'whispering grove' in Japanese) is an area in north Shroud. To its north is Peacegarden and to its west Alder Springs, both from which it is separated by the stream Murmur Rills. To the east lies the city of Gridania, and to its south are what remains of Emerald Moss after it was burnt in the Calamity - known as the Standing Corses in the present day.

In the aftermath of the destruction of Emerald Moss and the subsequent building of the Yellow Serpent Gate to Gridania, there is now a frequently used road that connects to the old Furline in Alder Springs. The area received its name from the whispering of the tree branches in the wind, for in Treespeak the trees grow so closely together their branches become intertwined.

It bears noting that in version 1.x Treespeak was located only on the upper paths, while the lower paths were taken up by yet more Emerald Moss. In version 2.0 and later, Treespeak now takes up the whole ground, and there are no separate higher paths off the ground.

Blessed Bud

The Blessed Bud (精霊の幼木 [seirei no youboku] or 'young tree of spirits/elementals' in Japanese) is a tree sapling that sprouted from the stump of an ancient tree. It is considered sacred by Gridanians.

E-Tatt's Spire

E-Tatt's Spire (エ・タッタ監視哨 [e-tatta kanshishou] or 'e-tatta observation post' in Japanese) is a watchtower built on top of a cliff in Treespeak. It bears the name of the Gridanian hero E-Tatt-Rai. It's unknown when it was built.

Treespeak Stables

The Treespeak Stables (ツリースピーク厩舎 [treespeak kyuusha] or 'treespeak stables' in Japanese) is a branch of Moogle's Gift Mounts in Bentbranch. In the Bentbranch Meadows main stables the chocobos are bred and grown, and then they are brought to Treespeak Stables for training1 .

Yellow Serpent Gate

The Yellow Serpent Gate (黄蛇門 [koujamon] or 'yellow serpent gate' in Japanese) is the newest of Gridania's gates, as it was built in the years following the Calamity. It has the player skip over the Lotus Gardens section of the city and takes them straight to the Root, at the western edge of Old Gridania.
